Recognition of Community Efforts - for a Caring Community and Safe Homes

A record number of 21 teams will be receiving the National Community Safety and Security Programme (CSSP) Awards this year at the National CSSP Awards Ceremony. Co-organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the People’s Association (PA), together with members of the Home Team, the ceremony this year will be held on Tuesday, 29 July at the HomeTeamNS at Bukit Batok.

2          CSSP was set up to strengthen social cohesion and encourage community self-help and mutual support.   The CSSP has been jointly spearheaded by MHA and PA since 1997 with the intent for the community, grassroots organisations, partnering agencies and the Home Team to identify local community concerns and to customise solution that tackles safety and security issues.

3          To recognise outstanding community initiatives on a nation-wide basis, the National CSSP Awards have been given to deserving projects since 2003. This year, from over 107 nominations contributed by the CSSP teams, 21 initiatives will receive the National CSSP Awards from the Senior Minister of State for Law and Home Affairs, Assoc Prof Ho Peng Kee.

4          CSSP continues to remain relevant to our community today, embodying the spirit of self-help and mutual support, and fosters community cohesion while promoting awareness that every member can work hand-in-hand to promote the community’s safety and security.
